Giant Recalls Cans of Pedigree Dog Food
Cans of Pedigree's weight management line of dog food might present a choking hazard, Giant says.
Giant Food Stores is recalling cans of Pedigree dog food because its makers say the food could present a choking risk.
The recall affects Pedigree's weight management line of dog food, and was issued by Mars Petcare US. According to a news release from Giant, small pieces of blue plastic found their way into the cans during production.
The dogfood, which has "Best Used Before" dates 2/24/2014 and 3/23/2014, is labeled: Pedigree – Weight Management Meat Ground Beef & Liver Dinner, 13.2 oz., UPC 2310001913.
While a small number of consumers have reported finding the plastic pieces, no injury or illness associated with the affected product has been reported to date.
Customers who have purchased the product should discard any unused portions or bring their purchase receipt to any Giant for a full refund.
