A former Forks Township police officer who resigned two days before he was scheduled to attend a termination hearing has sued the township.
Mills states in his suit that township officials -- he cites Police Chief Greg Dorney and Township Manager John Cornell -- publicized allegations that he was allegedly sleeping on the job and had a terminal illness, the story states.
Township Solicitor Karl Kline had stated that the hearing would have included township officials, including some members of the Board of Supervisors.
Testimony was to be taken on behalf of the township and Mills would have been allowed to call witnesses.
Mills said in his suit that he quit to prevent the allegations from going public.
