WAHOO (x2)!
The award-winning Nazareth Blue Eagle Marching Band took on fall competition season the only way it knows how:
- 1st Place - Group IV Open - Perkiomen Valley High School, "Music of the Valley" Marching Band Competition (Sept. 22)
- 1st Place - Group IV Open - Souderton Area High School, "Celebration of Bands" competition (Sept. 15)
During Perkiomen Valley's competition, according to band/guard mom and historian Tricia Ferreira, band members faced less-than-desirable weather.
"It was a windy and cloudy evening as the Nazareth Blue Eagle Marching Band took to the field and entered into competition," Ferreira wrote in an e-mail to Patch. "The band did not underestimate the weather and was prepared to give a proud performance and also dazzle the crowd."
Nazareth faced North Penn High School and Upper Moreland High School in the IV Open group.
Here's the score breakdown, according to USBands.org:
Nazareth
- 1st Place
- Score: 72.025
- Caption Awards: Best Music, Best Effect
North Penn
- 2nd Place
- Score: 71.525
- Caption Awards: Best Visual
Upper Moreland
- 3rd Place
- Score: 71.025
During the competition at Souderton Area High School, the Nazareth Blue Eagle Marching Band was alone in the IV Open group. Still noteworthy: The band had the highest score of the night -- out of seven bands -- with 71.525.
