Action Karate, NCC Have the Best Summer Camps

Your voices -- and votes -- have been heard: Action Karate AND Northampton Community College have the best summer camps in Nazareth Patch (and the Lehigh Valley).

It was a tough call, but this week's Readers' Choice ended in the first tie.

So, the results are in and Action Karate in Lower Nazareth Township and Northampton Community College (NCC), based in Bethlehem Township, have the best summer camps, according to Nazareth Patch readers.

NCC received 46 percent of the votes, while Action Karate received 44 percent of the votes.

What Action Karate lacked in that one vote, it made up for in positive comments.

"Action Karate takes summer camp to a whole other level," wrote Leticia Mercado. "From learning skills needed in any [facet] of [life], such as self control, self discipline and perseverance, to fun trips and swimming at the pool. The staff and volunteers truly love what they do and treat each kid as their own."

And then there is NCC's Horizons for Youth. Each year, according to www.northampton.edu, thousands of children from kindergarten through high school participate in more than 600 Horizons courses and workshops at four NCC sites.

"Summers are especially action-packed. Kids can soar with Star Wars, design simple machines, play field hockey, bake scones or go fishing," the school's website says.
