Ad Agency Softball Tournament to Raise Money for Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley
It’s on like Donkey Kong.
Spark, Klunk & Millan and swb&r – Lehigh Valley’s premier advertising & PR agencies – will square off in a three-team round-robin softball tournament on Saturday, Aug. 18 beginning at 10 a.m. The tournament will be held at Lehigh County Sports Fields in South Whitehall (behind Dorney Park between Cedar Crest Boulevard and Haines Mill Road) and agency employees, their clients, friends, family and the general public are encouraged to show up to cheer their favorite rag-tag bunch of admen and adwomen for a good cause.
Everyone in attendance will be asked to donate $5 to the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley.
In addition to personal donations, the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley will raffle off four “Field MVP” behind-home-plate Yankee Stadium tickets valued at $960 ($240 each) at the charity softball tournament. Tickets are for the New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles game on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 1:05 p.m. and are located in Section 122, Row 14, Seats 3-6. Raffle tickets will sell for $50 each.
Since the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley opened in 2004, it has provided psycho-social support to over 22,500 patients and families in Lehigh Valley and five surrounding counties. Each month, over 300 people attend at least one of 60 monthly programs at no cost to participants. “I know this is supposed to be about raising money for a remarkable non-profit organization, but I just want to win so freaking bad,” said Michael Drabenstott, partner at Spark. “If we lose to Klunk & Millan or swb&r, I’m going to be miserable to work with for at least a week.”
Spark was formed to fill a hole in the Eastern Pennsylvania ad scene - an agency relentlessly devoted to creativity. The full-service agency is dedicated to groundbreaking creative approaches designed to help organizations build their brands, enhance their images and improve their bottom lines.
“This agency’s never delivered a bad pitch and we’re not about to start now,” said Jill Wheeler, vice president at Klunk & Millan. “We’ll knock it out of the park for the Cancer Support Community—and for the bragging rights that go along with it.”
Klunk & Millan Advertising is an integrated marketing communications company passionate about big ideas and bold strategies that build stronger businesses. A full-service agency, Klunk & Millan provides leading-edge branding, advertising, web design, public relations, social media, and more to companies across the Lehigh Valley and around the country.
“Next to my family and swb&r, my biggest love in life is baseball,” said Scott Friedman, swb&r president and COO. “So I can no more entertain the prospect of losing this tournament than losing a new business pitch to these chumps. Just kidding, it’s all in good fun and the real winner is the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley.”
Bethlehem-based swb&r remains the largest marketing communications agency in the Lehigh Valley. Cited by B-to-B Magazine as one of the nation’s top business-to-business agencies for nine consecutive years, it serves global clients with full-service offerings.
